What is the History of Ashes?

When Australians won their First ever Test Match in England in 1882 at Oval, the British Journal, The Sporting Times posted an mockery obituary post of England Cricket Team – The body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia.”

The then English Captain Ivo Bligh declared during the England’s tour to Australia the following year, “We will win and regain the Ashes“, which they did eventually.

And that event led to the naming of Historical Ashes Series by the Newspapers and then the Cricket Boards.

  • The 2nd Test at Adelaide on Decmber 2 will be the First Ever Day-Night Ashes Test Match.
  • The 3rd Test at WACA Perth will be the Ashes Trophy’s last appearance at the WACA Ground. After 47 Years of Cricket, the Game moves to the New Cricket Stadium at Perth.
  • The 4th Test will take place in the 100,000 Capacity Stadium at the Melbourne Crcket Ground.
  • The 5th and the Final Test will be a Pink Test at Sydney.
