Top 10: Batsmen with Most Sixes in ODI in a Calendar Year

Find the list of batsmen who have hit maximum sixes in ODI cricket within a calendar year.

AB de Villiers topped the list with 58 ODI Sixes in 2015. He over-scored Shahid Afridi’s 48 sixes in 2002 in the 50-over format.

Rohit Sharma came so close with 45 ODI sixes in 2017. However, the Indian opener leads the same calendar year sixes chart when all formats are combined.

2017 had been a special year for Rohit; he was the second highest run-scorer in that year in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma’s count of 45 sixes in 2017 is the most sixes by an Indian player in ODI in a single calendar year. He followed that with 39 sixes in the next year, 2018, becoming the only player to feature twice in the top ten list.

Sachin’s 40 sixes in 1998 goes together with him scoring the most runs and centuries in ODIs in a calendar year by any batter.

Gayle’s 56 sixes in 2019 came in just 15 batted innings, which means a sixes/innings ratio of 3.73 – the highest among the others in the table.
