The Five Best Players in the Big Bash League

Whilst the Big Bash League is a relatively new cricket league, with only ten seasons under its belt, this Australian league has already secured its place as one of the best leagues in the world. We understand that the term ‘best’ is subjective, but in many cases the statistics speak for themselves and the Big Bash League has also boasted some of the world’s most promising players.

Whether you’re looking for the bbl live score 2021 or are looking ahead to the next season of the league, it’s easy to be fascinated by the BBL all year-round. With that in mind, here are our picks of the five best players from the Big Bash League:

1. Chris Lynn

Chris Lynn has earnt his place on this list because he is officially the BBL player with the most runs under his belt. During the course of 77 matches for his club, the Brisbane Heat, Lynn scored 2332 runs. What’s more, he also boasts a strike rate of 150.35. During his time playing for the Big Bash League he has achieved one fifty and 18 half-centuries. The game that Lynn is perhaps most famous for is the Brisbane Heat versus Hurricanes game during the 2015/16 season. During that game he achieved his highest score of 101, and despite the fact that the Brisbane Heat lost, this is still regarded as his best game.

2. Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch is regarded as the No.3 ranked T20 batter in the world, and is also the captain of the Renegades. He has a formidable reputation on the pitch, and outside of the Big Bash League he is also the captain of the Australian team, meaning that there is no way he couldn’t earn a spot on this list.

3. Daniel Christian

Daniel Christian is considered to be one of the best bowlers in the Big Bash League, and he is also the only bowler in its history who has claimed five wickets per innings on more than one occasion. He has been an integral part of two big teams: the Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes.

4. Glenn Maxwell

Often listed alongside Chris Lynn and Aaron Finch as the best batsmen in the Big Bash League, Glenn Maxwell is also considered to be one of the most dynamic batsmen in the league. Whilst playing for both the Melbourne Renegades and the Melbourne Stars, Maxwell scored 2005 runs in the Big Bash League at a batting average of 33.98 and at a strike rate of 149.96 and when he comes to bat he has a wide range of different shots in his armoury. He is considered one of the best and most exciting batsmen in the league to watch play.

5. Brad Hodge

Finally, Brad Hodge made this list because of his wealth of experience. He has played at more Big Bash League clubs than any other player. Although he was very experienced, and coming to the end of his career, when the BBL began, he still continued to dominate the league and was well-known for the skill and huge range of shots that he has able to achieve. Brad Hodge proved a role model for many of the other great cricketers that have been a part of this league, which is why he deserves his spot on this list.

Compiling a top five list is always going to be subjective, and the Big Bash League is highly regarded for its abundance of excellent cricketers. With so many greats to choose from, narrowing this down to a top five was almost-impossible!
