Chaminda Vaas, the legendary SriLankan Bowler has been appointed as the bowling coach for the Sri Lankan Cricket team for the upcoming India tour of Srilanka. Chaminda Vaas will replace Champaka Ramanayake as Sri Lanka’s bowling coach.
The Srilankan Cricket Board has announced the official information on Friday that the veteran pacer will guide the Srilankan Bowling unit for the India vs SriLanka series starting July 23rd.
Chaminda Vaas had been a successful bowler for the Srilankan Cricket team along with the Spin King Muttiah Muralitharan during their times. He has taken 355 and 400 wickets in Tests and ODI respectively. He had been good with his batting too with some valuable cameos with the bat. He waited for 97 Tests for his maiden century, against Bangladesh, and soon after, became the third Sri Lankan to play 100 Tests or more.
For Vaas, the role is only temporary for now, but he has done the job in the past, having been the national team’s bowling coach between February 2013, and April 2015. He has also had coaching positions with New Zealand and Ireland in brief stints.
