CSK’s first two title triumphs came in successive seasons in 2010 and 2011. This was the first-ever instance of a team winning the IPL in consecutive editions.
CSK are the only team to qualify for the playoffs in 10 consecutive seasons. They had a streak from 2008 to 2019, although they didn’t feature in 2016 and 2017.
The 2020 season was the first time CSK failed to enter the playoffs. They finished second last on the points table with six victories. Since then, the Chennai-based team has exited from the league stage four times.

CSK have been runner-ups in five seasons, the most by a team. Three times they lost the final against Mumbai Indians and once each against Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
The 2025 Dip: 2025 was statistically the toughest year for the franchise, marked by Ruturaj Gaikwad’s season-ending elbow injury and a record-low 10th-place finish.
