All four teams in this group have won a game now. So this Friday will be the day that decides the fate of four teams in this tournament. This game will have its mojo as the two times title winner Windies are pushing hard to get into the super 12, which is unusual.
Ground: Bellerive Oval, Hobart
Date: October 21, 2022
Time: 9.30 AM
Typical batting wicket where the outfield is slow.
Probable XI for WI v IRE
Nicholas Pooran (C & WK), Johnson Charles, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Shamarh Brooks, Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Akeal Hosein, Odean Smith, Alzarri Joseph
Andy Balbirnie (C), Paul Stirling, Curtis Campher, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Simi Singh, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Mark Adair
Captain – A Joseph
A Joseph is simply threatening with his pace and lines. He rarely gives room for the batters. And his confidence is pretty high this year. He will play a vital role in the match against Ireland.
Vice-captain – K Mayers
K Mayers hasn’t proven himself in this tournament yet. But there is a Gayle kind of player inside him. It will come out for sure in this tournament. Let’s hope it comes in the game against Ireland.
Wicketkeeper – J Charles
Charles was brilliant in the last game but had to walk back because of a mix-up. More than Lorcan Tucker and Nicholas Pooran, Charles looks promising at this moment.
Batters – P Stirling, G Dockrell, E Lewis, H Tector
There is a big game awaiting from both P Stirling and E Lewis. They both are that kind of player. When they get clicked, it will be huge.
G Dockrell has scored a 24 and a 39 in the first two games. He isn’t going to disappoint us for sure in the next game.
H Tector is a gamble for us. But a promising gamble. He can be a great source for us to get above all others.
All-rounders – J Holder, C Campher, K Mayers.
J Holder and C Campher are both wonders with the bat and the ball. There is no reason to overlook these two.
Bowlers – A Joseph, M Adair, J Little
Both the Irish new ball bowlers will get overs at the death overs too. They will get a fair amount of opportunities to scalp more.
Other good options for the captain slot would be: Jason Holder for his multidimensional role, O McCoy or Alzarri Joseph for their match-winning ability.
Other captain options will be J Holder, C Campher and J Little.
