Key Insights

1: Sachin Tendulkar became the first player to score a century as a captain in the IPL. The Master Blaster led his home side, the Mumbai Indians, in 2011 while bringing up an unbeaten 100 against the Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

39: When Adam Gilchrist scored 106 for the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), he was 39 years and 184 days old. That makes him the oldest batter to score a hundred in the IPL.

Virat Kohli has notched up the most hundreds as a skipper in the IPL, with 5 to his name. 4 of them came in 2016 — the most tons in a single IPL season. (Check out Virat Kohli’s IPL hundreds here.)

KL Rahul is the other batter to have 3 or more centuries as a captain in the IPL. And he is the only player to score centuries for 2 IPL teams while leading them. Rahul has hammered 1 ton for Punjab, while the other 2 have come for Lucknow.
