Sri Lanka’s legendary duo of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene hold the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in Test cricket. Both stitched together a massive partnership of 624 runs for the third wicket against South Africa in the 2006 Colombo Test.

In the same match, Jayawardene hammered a 374-run knock, the highest individual score for Sri Lanka and, overall, the fourth highest by a batter in Tests.

Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie have posted the highest opening stand in Tests, stitching together 415 runs against Bangladesh in the 2008 Chattogram Test.

The 363-run partnership between Pakistan’s Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan against England in the 2006 Headingley Test is the highest by a pair in a Test loss.

Bradman and Arthur Morris aggregated the highest fourth innings partnership, stitching 301 runs together for the second wicket against England in the 1948 Headingley Test. This is also the highest Test partnership in a successful run chase, which helped Australia overcome the 404-run target.

Two South African pairs – Herschelle Gibbs-Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla-Jacques Kallis – forged three partnerships of 300 or more runs each, the joint-most in Tests.

Amla-Kallis and Australia’s Matthew Hayden-Justin Langer formed six stands of 200 or more runs, the joint-most by a pair in Tests.

Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid stitched the most century partnerships in Tests, building 20 stands in 143 innings.
