IPL 2020

How big the absence of Raina and Harbhajan will impact CSK?

Cricket as a sport is a team game, but there have been players who have impacted the team’s overall performance by individual brilliance.

Here we would talk of two such cricketers who would be missed due to their non-availability in IPL 2020.

Suresh Raina

People who have followed IPL over the years must be aware of what impact Suresh Raina brings not only to the Chennai Super Kings but IPL as a package.

  • The Southpaw is the only batsman to have scored more than 350 runs in every season of the IPL.
  • He has scored more than 4500 runs for CSK, and more than 5300 runs overall. He is the 2nd highest run-scorer in the IPL.
  • He has the most number of catches by a non-wicketkeeper in the IPL.
  • He has hit the 2nd most number of sixes for team Chennai Super Kings and joint 4th overall; he has hit 2nd most boundaries.
  • He has scored 2nd most number of half-centuries in the history of IPL.
  • He has the most number of runs scored by a batsman batting at number 3.

Harbhajan Singh

  • The veteran off-spinner has bowled the most number of overs in IPL history.
  • He is the joint 3rd highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL.
  • He has the 3rd best economy rate for a bowler who has played more than 100 matches and best for a bowler who has appeared in more than 150 games.
  • He has the 2nd best Strike rate for a bowler (Strike Rate for a bowler is balls taken to take a wicket) who has played more than 100 matches.
  • He has bowled the most number of dot balls in the history of IPL.

With all the above points hope you would know how the Chennai Super Kings would be affected by the absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh. Their non-availability would also affect CSK’s team combination. We should also not forget that there isn’t any substitute for experience as both the players bring a wealth of experience for the team and new players in the squad.

As a CSK fan, I hope team CSK keeps everything aside and performs to their best of capabilities, and come November, the team would be in Play-off, which they have been doing every IPL season.
