IND vs ENG 2025 Test Series: Milestones & Records to Watch Out For

India will tour England for a five-match Test series, the first of which starts at Leeds, Headingley on 20 June. Rechristened as the Tendulkar-Anderson trophy, this series is set to be a mouth-watering clash between two of the strongest sides in the red-ball format. Given that it is a very long tour, we can expect some milestones to be accomplished and a few records to be created.

Here are a few approaching milestones that players from both England and India can reach in the upcoming marquee series.

Joe Root becomes the leading century maker among the Fab-4

The former England skipper currently sits in joint fifth place in the Test century lists with 36 tons. He is at present on level with Indian legend Rahul Dravid and Australia star batter Steve Smith. If he continues his rich vein of form, Joe Root will not only become the fifth in the overall Test century list but also the leading amongst the modern-day Fab-4

Ben Stokes – 7000 runs in Test cricket

The present England Test skipper is on the verge of completing a significant milestone in this format. He is just 272 runs shy of crossing the 7000-run landmark in Tests, and if he achieves this, Stokes will be just the 13th English Test batter to do so. This is to go along with the 213 wickets he has already captured in the format throughout his 111-match career.

Chris Woakes – 2000 runs and 200 Test wickets

Chris Woakes, the pace spearhead of England, has a chance to become just the 27th Test player to achieve the double of 200 Test wickets and 2000 Test runs. He is just 30 runs short of the 2000-run mark and 19 wickets away from breaching the 200 wickets barrier in Tests.

Shubman Gill – 2000 runs in Test cricket

The newly appointed Test captain of India has a chance to celebrate his maiden Test in that role by completing the 2000-run landmark. Gill has amassed 1893 runs thus far in the 32 games he has featured in for India in the format, with five centuries.

Yashasvi Jaiswal – Fastest Indian batter to reach 2000 Test runs

Indian opener has piled up 1798 runs in 36 Test innings at an average of 52.88 and is in touching distance of crossing the 2000-run mark. If he does get to the landmark in the next 3 innings, Jaiswal will be the fastest Indian to do so, as the duo and the record is currently held by the legendary duo of Dravid and Virender Sehwag, who reached 2000 runs in 40 innings.

Jasprit Bumrah – Most Test wickets among current pacers after 50 Tests

The ace Indian pacer has taken 205 wickets in 45 Tests at an incredible average of 19.40, which is the best among any bowler with a minimum of 200 Test wickets. If he does take another 28 wickets in this 5-match series, Bumrah will be the highest wicket-taker among the current crop of bowlers after playing 50 Tests. Amongst his peers, Kagiso Rabada had taken 233 wickets after 5 Tests, and Pat Cummins comes in next with 221 scalps. Find the full list here.

KL Rahul – 1000 Test runs in England

The Indian opener has made 614 Test runs in England with two centuries at an average of 34.11 in 9 Test matches. If Rahul scores another 386 runs in the series, he can become only the fourth Indian batter to cross the 1000-run mark in the country.

Rishabh Pant – Most runs among visiting wicket-keepers in England

Rishabh Pant has made 511 runs in 8 Tests in England and is currently the ninth-highest run-scorer among wicket-keepers in the country. MS Dhoni had amassed 778 runs playing for India in whites in the country and is leading the run charts for wicket-keepers overall.
