Key Insights – Key Performances from the No. 4 Spot in IPL

Rishabh Pant has brought up the highest score at No. 4 in the IPL. He scored an unbeaten 128 runs for Delhi against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2018.

Pant’s score is also the highest by any batter in a lost IPL match. Delhi failed to defend 188 runs.

Andrew Symonds was the first No. 4 batter to score an IPL hundred. He scored an unbeaten 117 for Deccan Chargers against Rajasthan Royals in 2008.

Wriddhiman Saha accumulated 115 not out in the 2014 final. He is one of the two batters with a century in the IPL final.

There is one common link between Pant, Symonds, Saha, and Heinrich Klaasen. All their individual efforts went in vain as their respective teams lost the games. Suryakumar Yadav is the only No. 4 batter with a century in a winning cause.

Suryakumar is the only batter to score one IPL hundred each at No. 3 and No. 4. And he is one of the three batters to have centuries at two different batting positions in the IPL.

Yusuf Pathan’s 327.27 is the highest strike rate at No. 4 in an IPL innings (min. 20 balls and 50 runs). He struck 72 runs off 22 balls for Kolkata Knight Riders against SRH in 2014. Pathan needed 15 balls to reach his 50, which makes it the fastest IPL fifty by a No. 4 batter.
