IPL Mid-Season Transfer : Everything You Should Know About

The IPL governing council has introduced a mid-season transfer concept like the way they do in various football leagues across the world. This, if any of the franchise gives a green signal to transfer any player, will materialize for the time in the history of IPL. So we will see some of the rules that need to be followed if any of such transfers occur this season.

Rules involved in Mid-Season Transfer in IPL 2020

• The mid-season transfer is open for 5 days ie, from 13th to 17th October. In other words, after each and every team has played a minimum of 7 games.
• All players capped or uncapped, Indian or overseas are all eligible to find a new team on loan if mutually agreed according to the IPL mid-season transfer.
• The player who is to be loaned should have played only 2 games or less for the team he is originally representing. A player should be transferred only after mutual consent from both the franchisee and also the individual involved. 
• A player transfer is only applicable for this particular season and has to revert back to their original teams once after the completion of this IPL.
• The main catch here is that a player transferred cannot play against his parent team in case they play against each other.

For example, if David Miller who plays for RR (he has played only one game this season) is now traded to CSK after agreed by all parties involved, he will represent CSK on loan for just this season and has to come back to RR unless released. If RR faces CSK at any point in time this season again, David Miller cannot play that match.
