Followed by the Mumbai Indians taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

A stern challenge awaits those cricket pundits who make early IPL predictions, as there are some blockbuster matches lined up in the opening two weeks of the 2026 IPL season.

IPL 2026 Schedule: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Lucknow

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants will play their first fixtures at home this season. The defending champions and Sunrisers Hyderabad will battle it out in the IPL 2026 opener, while the Mumbai Indians host the Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium.

Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings will play Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at Barsapara Cricket Stadium and New PCA Stadium. Lucknow Super Giants, too, will open their campaign at home, as they lock horns with Delhi Capitals. All five first-round fixtures will begin at 7:30 PM.

RR & KKR – Home Comforts & GT & SRH – Away Trips

Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders can enjoy home comforts in their first four fixtures. The first-ever IPL champions have three of their first four fixtures at Barsapara Cricket Stadium – against Chennai Super Kings (March 30), Mumbai Indians (April 7), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (April 10).

Kolkata Knight Riders, too, will play three out of their first four matches at Eden Gardens. They will begin their season in Mumbai, followed by three home games – Sunrisers Hyderabad (April 2), Punjab Kings (April 6), and Lucknow Super Giants (April 9).

On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans and the Sunrisers Hyderabad have three away fixtures in their opening four games. The Titans will meet Punjab Kings (March 31), Delhi Capitals (April 8), and Lucknow Super Giants (April 12) away from home.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has to travel to Bengaluru for the opening match of the season (March 28) and to Eden Gardens to play Kolkata Knight Riders (April 2). The Orange Army returns to Hyderabad for their first home fixture, but their fourth match is against the Punjab Kings (April 11) in Chandigarh.
