IRE vs SA – 2nd ODI – Dream11 Team, Predictions, and Tips

This article will talk about the probable XIs for both teams and continue with the Dream11 predictions and the winning fantasy team for the 2nd ODI between Ireland and South Africa that is scheduled to take place on the 13th of July 2021.

The first ODI between the hosts Ireland and South Africa was deemed a no-result due to persistent rain at the Malahide on Sunday. As a result of this, the ICC ODI Super League points were shared between both Ireland and South Africa. The teams will play the 2nd ODI at the same venue on Tuesday.

The hosts Ireland led by Andrew Balbirnie was in a decent position of 195/4 in the 41st over when the rain halted proceedings. They would be hard done by the result as they would have liked the game to ahead. While South Africa will want to improve upon their bowling efforts from the first game.

Ireland would be desperate to get their 3rd win in the league and Tenba Bavuma-led South Africa would want to clinch their 1st series win in this tournament. so there is plenty to play for both teams in the 2nd ODI.

The Probable Playing XIs

Ireland started off well with the bat and would be happy with the form of William Porterfield who scored his ODI half-century since 2019 May and also their skipper Balbirnie came good. With really nothing to tell from the 40 overs of the game that was played in the 1st ODI, the Ireland side is expected to be the same. Although, they will want their opener Paul Stirling to fire.

South Africa rested Quinton De Kock for the 1st ODI and Anrich Nortje sat out due to an injury. They would most likely continue with the same team that fielded in the first ODI and this would provide an opportunity for the likes of Janneman Malan, Kyle Verreynne to come good.

Ireland: Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie(c), Harry Tector, Mark Adair, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker(w), Andy McBrine, Simi Singh, Joshua Little, Craig Young

South Africa: Aiden Markram, Janneman Malan, Temba Bavuma(c), Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne(w), David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi

Match Prediction

The visiting Proteas team will start as favorites to win the 2nd game and take 10 points. But Ireland gave a good account of themselves in the 1st ODI against a challenging South Africa bowling attack. Expect a tough fight from the home team but SA should win this.

Batsmen: The duo of Andrew Balbirnie and William Porterfield looked good in the 1st ODI and should be selected on the current form. Aiden Markram and Van der Dussen will be the main batsmen from the South Africa team. Both players are in good form and they will look to continue their form in this match too. Paul Stirling had a tough start in the 1st ODI but the highest run-getter in ODIs this year should be selected.

Wicket-Keeper: Kyle Verreynne can be the lone wicket-keeping option in this game for your fantasy with the fact that Quinton De Kock likely to be rested once again.

All-Rounders: Andile Phehlukwayo is a genuine wicket-taker with the ball and scores some useful runs as well. These conditions will suit his kind of play and can be a pick in the fantasy XI. Mark Adair played a great cameo at the end of Ireland’s innings with the bat and is a good bowler too.

Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada and Tabraiz Shamsi were amongst wickets in the first ODI and the duo did a great job in the last series win over West Indies. Joshua Little had a brilliant series against the Netherlands so he will be the main pick from Ireland.

Captaincy Choices

Fantasy Team: William Porterfield, Aiden Markram, Andrew Balbirnie, Russie Van der Dussen, Paul Stirling(C), Kyle Verreynne(WK), Andile Phehlukwayo, Mark Adair, Kagiso Rabada(VC), Tabraiz Shamsi, Joshua Little.

Captain – Paul Stirling

The Ireland opener may have had a forgettable outing in the 1st ODI but expect him to come good in the 2nd ODI. He is the leading run-getter in ODIs this year and can be made the captain.

Vice-Captain – Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada is the prime wicket-taking option for SA and proved just that in the 1st ODI as well. So he can be made the vice-captain.
