Jos Buttler first premiered in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2016 and 2017. Although he was not a big success in the first two seasons, he played one or two impactful innings for the successful Mumbai side.

It all changed when Buttler was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2018, the franchise he played for seven years till 2024. He is now part of Gujarat Titans (GT) setup after the franchise signed him in the 2025 auction.
