The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all about the batting scenarios. But many brave bowlers have overturned this in their favour.
Though all game phases are in T20 format, the powerplay is initially made for the batsmen. But, there are meagre bowlers in the history of IPL like Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, and Lasith Malinga who have kept opponents’ batters in check in the powerplay phase.
Their tidy performances with the new ball saw teams stutter in the first six overs, where we often see batters take charge of things.
So, here are the top 10 lowest powerplay scores by the teams in the IPL.

Key Insights
Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hold the joint record for registering the lowest powerplay score (14) in the IPL. In 2009, RR mustered 14 for 2 runs in the first six overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Cape Town. 13 years later, SRH levelled the record against RR by managing 14 runs off their powerplay overs.
Chennai Super Kings and RR have three scores each of 20 or fewer runs in the powerplay phase in the IPL.
Kochi Tuskers Kerala hold the unwanted record of losing the most wickets in powerplay overs. They lost six of their batters within six overs, with five of them batting ducks! Kochi were 29 for 6 at the end of the six overs against Deccan Chargers in 2011.
Except for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), all other 14 teams that have featured in the IPL at least once have registered a below 30 powerplay score.
