IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) – Released and Retained Players

Lucknow Super Giants, led by KL Rahul, reached the semifinal of the IPL 2022, and incidentally, this was the franchise’s first-ever IPL season. The LSG have retained 4 of their foreign players, and the core of the team that played in the 2022 season more or less remains intact for the upcoming edition as well.

What happened?

They found a great balance in their playing XI in the last IPL, and by the looks of it, the LSG is looking to make not too many changes in the upcoming edition as well, which is a really good thing to see. There are no surprises in the personnel they left, barring the axe of Jason Holder. While Dushmanta Chameera did well in the 2022 edition, his fitness remains a question. Indian batter Manish Pandey didn’t have a great IPL 2022, and his release was on the expected lines, as were Evin Lewis and Andrew Tye.

They might try to re-buy Jason Holder for a lesser price, as the former West Indies skipper is a great utility player to have on the team. They will need a middle-order Indian batter to fill the place of Manish Pandey, as well as a foreign pacer as a backup for Mark Wood. They also need an overseas star in the top order with the release of Evin Lewis.
