The Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will meet in the 56th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Monday (May 9) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.
After struggling in the early matches, the Mumbai openers regained their form against the Gujarat Titans in the last match. Kieron Pollard, an all-rounder, has struggled to score in this tournament and has declared his retirement from international cricket. Tim David was dropped after a few games early in the tournament and played well in the last two games as a finisher.
The Mumbai Indians won two consecutive matches after losing eight matches. It’s too late as they have already been eliminated from the tournaments. The MI team doesn’t have a balanced bowling line up as their lead bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is struggling to pick wickets, having an average of 60.8 and 46 SR.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ openers scored 43 runs in the opening match of the IPL against Chennai Super Kings. After that match, the openers failed to provide a good start, as their highest opening partnership was 21. The middle order batsmen haven’t performed consistently, and all-rounder Andre Russell is the 2nd highest scorer for KKR.
Sunil Narine and Tim Southee are the only consistent performers with the ball for KKR. Shivam Mavi is expensive and in and out of this tournament. Andre Russell is doing his sixth bowler’s job and picked up 12 wickets in the tournament.
No changes are expected in MI XI. KKR could try Sam Billings as a wicket-keeper batsman. If Umesh Yadav is fit to play, he will make it into the XI. He missed the last match with a niggle.

In the last two games, Ishan Kishan displayed a positive attitude and scored with a high SR. He is an obvious pick for WK on fantasy teams.
