Hitting a century in T20s is a challenging task. With significantly less time to get settled, the batsman must attack from the first ball to reach the three-digit milestone.

Only around 30 centuries were scored in the history of the Big Bash League, an Australian domestic T20 league that spans 12 straight years from 2011, which tells us that it has been a rare affair.

Also, only one player so far has hit three of those tons – Ben McDermott. The Australian batter was in his prime form in the 2021 season. The 2021’s “Player of the tournament” scored two centuries in that year, missing the third one (fourth overall) by 7 runs when he was dismissed for 93 against the Brisbane Heat the same year.

This article will list the players who have hit more than one century in the tournament.

Key Stats

Craig Simmons, the holder of the fastest BBL century record, has hit two centuries in 20 games.

Glenn Maxwell’s unbeatable 154, playing for Melbourne Stars against Hobart Hurricanes in 2022, is the highest score ever made in BBL. Maxi’s cracker of an innings helped the Stars score the highest-ever team total in BBL too.

The table-topper McDermott is the first player to hit two consecutive centuries in BBL history. You can find the highlights of the full innings here.

Two of McDermott’s centuries have come while chasing a total – thereby, he also tops the number of centuries scored by batters while batting second.

Seven centuries were scored each in Melbourne MSG and Adelaide Oval – the highest any BBL venue has seen.

Teams-wise, Sydney Thunder’s players have scored seven centuries – the highest by any BBL team.
