Two of Cook’s instances came in his debut and final career Tests. He scored 60 and 104 not out against India on debut in 2006 and ended his career with 71 and 147 against the same opposition in 2018.

South Africa’s Bruce Mitchell was the first to achieve this double. He scored 88 and 61 not out against England on debut in 1929 and ended his career with 99 and 46 against the same team in 1949.

Kumar Sangakkara, Patsy Hendren, and Greg Chappell each had scores of 50 or more in both innings in three consecutive Tests.

Sunil Gavaskar, Ponting, and David Warner are the three batters to score twin centuries in three Tests, which is the joint-most in this format.
