Scoring runs in the ODI World Cup, where there is constant pressure, is always a dream for any batter. Further, reaching the 50-mark in an ODI innings is a more splendid effort when it comes to a World Cup, and there are champion batters who do it for fun.
Sachin Tendulkar in 2003 became the first batsman to score more than 5 50+ scores in a single edition of the World Cup. The Indian master batter scored 6 half centuries and 1 century in that tournament held in South Africa, a total of 7. This was equaled by Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, who matched Sachin’s numbers with 5 half-centuries and 2 centuries in the 2019 edition held in England.
