Virat Kohli, who is the leading century-maker, has slammed the most ODI hundreds in successful run chases. He is the only batter to score more than 20 centuries while helping his team chase down targets.
Interestingly, Kohli also leads the run chart in successful ODI chases. The right-hand batter has accumulated over 6000 runs, proving his tag of chase master.
Apart from Kohli, only Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma have scored more than 10 centuries in successful chases. The number of batters rises to 34 if we consider at least five hundreds.
Kohli, Tendulkar and Sharma have scored more than 40 fifty-plus scores in successful chases. Kohli is the only one with more than 50 such scores.
Highest Individual Score in Successful ODI Chase and Match-Winning Conversion Rates
Glenn Maxwell has amassed the highest individual score in a successful ODI chase. He scored an unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan while chasing 292 in the 2023 World Cup. This is the only double century in a chase, that too by a non-opener!
Among the batters who have scored 10 or more centuries in overall chases, Sanath Jayasuriya and Saeed Anwar have the best win percentage. Both batters scored 10 centuries each, with nine of them coming in successful chases, meaning a 90% conversion.
Kohli has also scored the most ODI tons in winning chases as a captain. He smashed 11 centuries while leading India to victory. And he is the only skipper with more than 10 centuries.
Country, Venue, Series, Opponent & Year Specific Chase Records
Kohli is the only batter to score more than 10 centuries in successful chases in a single country (India) in ODIs.
Saeed Anwar scored five of his nine centuries at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, the most by a batter in successful chases at a single venue in ODIs.
West Indies’ Desmond Haynes is the only batter to score three centuries in successful chases in an ODI bilateral series. He achieved the feat in the four-match home series against Australia in 1984.
Kohli is the only batter to smash four or more centuries each in successful chases against three opponent teams – Sri Lanka, Australia and the West Indies.
Sachin Tendulkar brought up six hundreds in successful chases in 1998, the most by a batter in a calendar year.
