Brian Lara leads the chart for the Caribbean nation by scoring nine double centuries to his name during his career spanned 17 years. The West Indian’s most prominent strength of having multiple ranges of shots helped him in scoring the bigger scores more often.

Major Contributors to the list of West Indian Test 200s

Lara has scored the only 400 in Tests, along with a 375, both coming against England. In the fifth Test of his career in Sydney in 1993, the Southpaw scored his maiden Test hundred as a double century score of 277. He went on to name his daughter Sydney after this innings at SCG.

Gordon Greenidge scored 4 double centuries apart from him, whereas Chris Gayle and Viv Richards have 3 each.

2 out of 3 Gayle 200s were converted to 300s – a freak of his own kind.

Among the current batsmen (apart from Gayle, who hasn’t announced his retirement yet officially), Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Tagenarine Chanderpaul have one century each to their name.

A patient 467-ball double ton from Tagenarine Chanderpaul at Bulawayo in February 2023 is the latest 200 scored by a West Indian cricketer.
