MS Dhoni holds the record for the most not-outs while batting second in ODI cricket, with 50 unbeaten innings.
Dhoni has also remained not out the most times in overall ODI cricket, with 84 unbeaten outings under his belt.
India ended up on the winning side in 94 per cent of the ODI run chases in which Dhoni stayed not out. He remained unbeaten in 47 successful chases.
Muttiah Muralitharan has remained unbeaten in the most unsuccessful ODI chases, with 22 such innings for Sri Lanka.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained not out in 21 innings while chasing in Bangladesh, the most by a batter on home soil in ODIs.
Dhoni, on the other hand, stayed not out 31 times in overseas conditions, the most by a batter in away ODI chases.
Virat Kohli has scored the most unbeaten centuries (14+) and fifty-plus scores (28+) in ODI run chases.
All of Kohli’s hundreds helped India chase targets successfully, while only one of his fifties ended in a loss.
Jacques Kallis is the other batter with more than 20 unbeaten fifty-plus scores in run chases in ODIs, with all coming in wins. Explore Jacques Kallis records here.

Saeed Anwar (Pakistan), Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), Alec Stewart (England), Javed Omar (Bangladesh), Azhar Ali (Pakistan), and Upul Tharanga (Sri Lanka) are the openers who’ve carried their bats (remained unbeaten) while chasing in ODIs.

More than 60 batters have stayed not out in 20 or more chases in ODIs. Among them, Yuvraj Singh (27), Eoin Morgan (24), Mohammad Yousuf (23), JP Duminy (22), Desmond Haynes (20) and Viv Richards (20) remained unbeaten in 100 per cent of the chases their teams won.
