Top 10: Most Sixes by a Batter in Powerplay in a T20I Innings

Powerplay is an ideal phase for a batter in T20Is to rake up quick runs as there will be only 2 fielders outside the 30-yard circle. So any loose ball from the bowlers in the first 6 overs will be a gift for the batters to show their range of shots.

It is not like these batters won’t go for it in the rest of the innings, but the powerplay offers many more opportunities to score boundary sixes. So here are the top 10 batters with the most sixes in a single powerplay innings in T20Is.

Key Insights

7 is the maximum number of sixes a batter has hit in the powerplay phase of a T20I innings. New Zealand’s Colin Munro did in a game against England in Hamilton back in 2018.

6: Former West Indies T20 skipper Kieron Pollard is the only batter on the list who has hit 6 or more hits over the fence while coming in the middle order in a powerplay. It is interesting to note that the right-hander smashed all of his 6 sixes in a single over in the knock of 38 (10), making him only the second batter to do so in T20Is.

380: This is the highest batting strike for a batsman in the powerplay phase, and it’s none other than Pollard, who struck at 380 during his above knock.

2: South Africa’s Quinton de Kock features in this list twice and is the only player to hit 6 or more sixes in a single powerplay phase of T20Is more than once.
