Test cricket is the longest form of cricket that originated over 100 years ago in England. England and Australia are the two oldest cricketing countries where the venues have an iconic identity.
Lord’s Cricket Ground, one of the oldest cricketing venues to host a Test match, is the first to host its 100th Test match. The arena, considered the “Mecca of Cricket”, has been one of the prestigious addresses in London, the Capital city of England. To date, Lord’s is also the venue that has hosted the most number of Test matches.

So far, four cricket grounds have completed hosting 100 Test matches – two in England (Lords and Kia Oval) and two in Australia (MCG & SCG).
Melbourne Cricket Stadium is known as the oldest of all cricketing stadiums that are in condition now. The MCG is said to have given birth to the Test format, as the first Test series between England and Australia was played in this venue in 1877. The series ended in a draw 1-1.
Basin Reserve (Wellington, New Zealand) and Queen’s Park Oval (Trinidad, West Indies) are the venues from the respective countries to host more than 60 Test matches.
Newlands in Cape Town (South Africa), National Stadium in Karachi (Pakistan), Galle International Stadium in Galle (Sri Lanka), and Eden Gardens in Kolkata (India) have hosted the most Test matches for the respective nations.
