Whenever two top teams in the Test cricket world meet, there is no doubt that it will be an exciting treat for the fans of the format. The Border Gavaskar Trophy, where India and Australia battle for supremacy in cricket, has become one of the most expected challenges among the cricketing fraternity in the last few years. Arguably, it is rated more than the Ashes, which has more than 100 years of history.

In 2023, the sides are meeting again in the Indian land after the last two tournaments in Australia. The excitement in the air is real as the world-class batters from both sides will be tested against some of the gems of spinning talents in the land known for its spin-friendliness.

This article will follow the tournament and update you with the list of leading wicket-takers of the 2023 BGT series between India and Australia.

Key Stats

Nathan Lyon’s quest to become the most wicket-taker against India continues, with the Australian offie moving past 100 wickets against India.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin started with one 5-for each in the inaugural Nagpur Test, in which Todd Murphy also picked 7-for in his debut match, almost breaking the world record.

When we were doubting whether Murphy’s 7/124 will be bettered by anyone else in this series, Jadeja came up with a scintillating effort of 7/42 on Day-3 of Delhi Test to wrap Australian 2nd innings within a Day’s session.

Ashwin and Lyon went past 100 wickets tally in the BGT tournaments, joining Anil Kumble, who was the first to do so. Check here the most wicket-takers in BGT history.

Other milestones achieved in this series are:

Ashwin picked his 450th wicket, becoming the third Indian to do so and the second fastest ever to reach the mark, and Jadeja completed a mind-boggling double feat of 2500 runs and 250 wickets in Test cricket.

Jadeja and Axar from this list are also featuring in the top 10 batters list of the series.
