The Delhi Capitals (DC) would be boosted by the return of their skipper, Rishabh Pant, and they would look to come back to their consistent ways come the 2024 season. They endured a disappointing 2023 edition where they finished outside the playoffs. DC will be a side that will be busy at the IPL 2024 auction table as they have several key slots to fill to make their squad a near-perfect one.

What are some of the weaknesses in their present squad?
Ideally, the Delhi Capitals have most of the members of their potential starting XI and have a huge purse to make some more significant additions to their team. For instance, they require a solid top-order batter and some depth in the bowling department as cover for the overseas duo. However, the team’s balance has tilted pretty well with the arrival of Pant, and they can now look to construct a strong squad.
Players DC will Target in the IPL 2024 Auction
1. Gerald Coetzee
Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi are the 2 overseas pacers in the DC line-up, but they would look to add 1 or 2 more pacers to the ranks. While Nortje is injury-prone, the latter is not that consistent, and DC can look to bolster this attack a bit by adding another Proteas pacer in Gerald Coetzee. The young pacer is very quick and can add a different dimension to the DC ranks.
2. Rachin Ravindra
Rachin Ravindra has proved that he belongs on the big stage by performing wonderfully well in his maiden World Cup in India. This has made him a certainty to be on the radar of several franchises, and he might be a great fit in the DC squad. The Capitals left out 2 of their middle-order batters, and Rachin could replace them. Moreover, the youngster can also play at the top while also contributing with the ball.
3. Azmatullah Omarzai
Another all-rounder who made heads turn with his performance in the World Cup is Afghanistan’s Omarzai. He is a pacer who can swing the ball with the new cherry and can bat well in the middle-order against pacers and spinners alike. He can serve a dual purpose and add incredible depth to the Delhi Capitals team.
4. Narayan Jagadeesan
While Prithvi Shaw is there in the lineup, his returns in the last season weren’t that good, and the DC didn’t have an Indian opener who could replace him. For that, DC might look to invest in some young batters, and Jagadeesan could be a great fit for the team.
