Sachin Tendulkar’s superlative year of 1998 brought him 1894 runs, which still tops the maximum runs in a calendar year chart. He also tops the chart for batsman with the most number of centuries in a year.

Sachin’s year of 1000 runs ranges from 1994 to 2007, a notable 13 years in between, tells a tale of his longevity in this format of cricket.

Virat Kohli is the only other player to attain the milestone of 1000 runs in a year, 7 times. His progression throughout his career, year by year, paints a picture of the most consistent player in the history of ODI cricket.

Along with Virat, Sourav Ganguly and Kumar Sangakkara have achieved the milestone of 1000 ODI runs in year 4 times in a row.
