After a non-game season with Mumbai Indians in his first-ever IPL involvement in 2012, Suryakumar played for Kolkata Knight Riders for a 4-year stint, where he was raised to the status of vice-captain of the side.
Back to Mumbai Blues in 2018, his career skyrocketed, scoring valuable runs match after match for the next five seasons. The Mumbai Indians stint helped SKY get into the Indian blues too. Surya has also evolved into the ranks of being assistant to Rohit Sharma in captaincy.
