The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup is just a few days away. And the excitement for the tournament is rising as we inch closer to the tournament opener on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
India is set to host the World Cup for the fourth time. The 50-over tournament will be played across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19.
10 top-class teams will be assembling in India for this pinnacle event of cricket. The hosts, India, will be riding on their home support and looking to get their hands on the coveted trophy for the third time.
With that, let’s take a look at Team India’s complete schedule in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
India’s 2023 World Cup Fixtures
All the teams, including India, will face each other in a single round-robin format. That means India will play a total of 9 matches in the group stage of the tournament.
The hosts will kick off their campaign against 5-time World Champions Australia on October 8 in Chennai. Apart from Chennai, Team India will play matches in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Dharamsala, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

India’s Matches to Look Forward To
Since India is playing at home, they are the favourites to lift the World Cup. But they have an uphill task as they play against some fierce competitors.
India vs Australia
India’s opening game against Australia at Chepauk will be a tough assignment for the hosts. The match will be played on a spin-friendly pitch, and the last time India played against the Aussies in Chennai in March 2023, the visitors overpowered India with their spin-bowling attack.
India vs Pakistan
Well, it’s a no-brainer. All India-Pakistan matches are played in high-voltage and high-pressure situations. Pakistan has yet to win against India in a World Cup clash. And India will be under immense pressure to perform well in front of a packed Narendra Modi Stadium.
India vs New Zealand
India’s track record against the Kiwis in ICC events is not that good. The last time the 2 sides played in the 2019 edition, New Zealand defeated India in the semifinals. So, India will look to take revenge for that heartbreaking defeat.
India vs England
India will face the defending champions, England, at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. England, led by Jos Buttler, is one of the best white-ball teams in the world and can challenge the Indian team.
India vs South Africa
The iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the India versus South Africa game. The Proteas’ having recently defeated Australia at home makes them a worthy opponent against India. Some of the South African players, like Heinrich Klaasen and Temba Bavuma, are in red-hot form in ODIs.
Whatever happens in the ODI World Cup, one thing is for sure — Indian fans will be delighted with some wonderful performances.
