TKR vs SLK – Semi-Final 1 of CPL 2021 – Match Preview, Dream11 Team Predictions, and Fantasy Tips

This article will talk about the probable XIs for both teams and continue with the Dream11 predictions and the winning fantasy team for the 1st Semi-Final of the Caribbean Premier League between Saint Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders that is scheduled to be played on the 14th of September 2021.

Saint Lucia Kings will take on the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders(TKR) led by Kieron Pollard for the 3rd time this season at Warner Park on Tuesday. In the previous encounter between the sides on 31st August, the TKR won comfortably by 27 runs.

Lucia Kings qualified to the semi-final after finishing at the 4th spot in the points table. They just about made it despite losing their previous encounter to the Barbados Royals by 8 wickets in what was a high-scoring game. Batting first, they made 190/6 even though they were without their in-form skipper Faf Du Plessis. Roston Chase scored yet another half-century(56 off 38), while openers Rahkeem Cornwall and stand-in captain Andre Fletcher made 40 and 31 respectively. However, all their bowlers proved to be expensive as they lost the game by 8 wickets and with 7 balls to spare.

Trinbago Knight Riders continued their impressive run in the CPL by making it to yet another semi-final thanks to a masterclass in the chase from skipper Kieron Pollard himself, who made 51 from 22 in their pursuit of 148. After restricting the Patriots to 147/7 with Ali Khan taking 3/19, and Udana picking up a couple of wickets, their batting lost their way as they were reeling at 52/3 at the start of the 10th over. But Pollard and useful contribution from Udana at the end meant they chased the target with an over to spare.

Match Details

Venue: Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts

Pitch and Weather:  Likely to be a typical Caribbean pitch that will offer more to the bowlers so far and the batters have been able to score after getting an eye in. There were several games that were in the range of 140-160 and we can see the same in this game as well. Sunny weather is expected on the match-day and the temperature will be around 28C.

Date & Time: September 14, 10 AM Local time, 7.30 PM IST

Probable Playing XIs

Trinbago Knight Riders will want to continue their winning run in the fag end of the league stages and will be certainly happy with the form of their batters Simmons, Colin Munro who have scored for them regularly. They will happy with the bowling performance of Ali Khan, Pierre, Akeal Hosein, and the veterans Ravi Rampaul, Sunil Narine, Isuru Udana. Also, Pollard’s last match knock will give them a lot of confidence heading to the business stages of the tournament.

Saint Lucia Kings will look to bounce back after losing their previous game with a weak batting effort vs the Barbados Kings. Having made 190, their bowlers failed to defend the huge total with all the bowlers except Jeavor Royal proving to be expensive. They will hope that Faf Du Plessis is back to his full fitness and will join the rest of the in-form batters Roston Chase, Andre Fletcher, Cornwall.

Saint Lucia Kings

Match Prediction

Both teams will want to be the 1st team to reach the final this season but the TKR with a series of wins behind them will start as favorites over the Lucia Kings who have been largely inconsistent.

Fantasy Tips

Batsmen: Colin Munro despite not being at his free-flowing best has scored runs in almost every game.  Lendl Simmons, like Munro, should be an easy pick as far as the fantasy XI is concerned. Tim David, the main batsmen from Lucia Kings in absence of Faf Du Plessis can be picked in the fantasy line-up. He has scored 234 in this CPL.

Wicket-Keepers: Andre Fletcher can be selected as one of the wicket-keeping options. He is a hard-hitting batsman who has made over 210 runs at the top of the order in this CPL. Along with him, Tim Seifert can be selected as the 2nd wicket-keeper in the side.

All-rounders: Roston Chase is the highest run-scorer in this ongoing season. The all-rounder scored 367 runs and also took 9 wickets. Kieron Pollard is an obvious pick from the TKR team as the other all-rounder of the side. He made a match-winning half-century last game that sealed them the top spot. 3rd all-rounder can be David Wiese who scored crucial runs last game to go along with a five-wicket haul that he took earlier.

Bowlers: Akeal Hosein who has taken 12 wickets thus far is an automatic selection here. Veteran pacer Ravi Rampaul picked 18 wickets in 9 games and he is also the highest wicket-taker in this season. The last slot can go to Ali Khan who has taken 8 wickets in just 3 games this season.
