Match Details
Match: West Indies vs South Africa, 1st Test
Date: 10th June 2021
Time: 07: 30 PM IST
Venue: Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia
Pitch and Weather: The pitch at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, supports batsman as they find it easy to bat on the surface. Traditionally there’s not a lot of assistance to the bowlers, and wicket-taking will be difficult. The weather is expected to be hot and clean for the next five day in St. Lucia.
The Probable Playing XIs
West Indies have announced their 13-members squad for the game. They have a good mix of young and experienced players in the line-up. The return of Shai Hope will be a required boost in the top-order. On the other hand, South Africa is in a transition phase, and it will be interesting to see how their Playing XI will turn up.
West Indies: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Kieran Powell, Shai Hope (wk), Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers, Jermaine Blackwood, Rahkeem Cornwall, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales.
South Africa – Dean Elgar(c), Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, Sarel Erwee, Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma, Wiaan Mulder, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje
Match Prediction
There is nothing really to choose from the teams. Both of them have well-equipped lineups and strong young contenders in the squad. West Indies, however, are coming back after a Test series win in Bangladesh and have a home advantage. So they will start the game as slight favorites.
Dream11 Prediction
Fantasy Tips
Batsman– Kraigg Brathwaite, Dean Elgar, and Rassie van der Dussen are my batting pick for the game, whereas Nkrumah Bonner will be my advantage pick. Bonner played an excellent role in the Bangladesh win, and the youngster has proved that he can play a long innings in the format.
All-rounders– Jason Holder is a key all-rounder for the home team, and he will be my lone fantasy pick in this department.
Wicket-Keepers– Shai Hope and De Kock are experienced and strong contenders for the captaincy role and are my automatic dream11 picks for the game.
Bowlers– Both teams boast strong pace powerheads. I am picking Rabada and Nortje from Proteas XI and Cornwall and Roach from the Windies side.
Captaincy choices
Team for fantasy: Quinton de Kock, Shai Hope, Kraigg Brathwaite, Dean Elgar, Rassie Van Der-dussen, Nkrumah Bonner, Jason Holder, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kemar Roach, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje
Captain- Dean Elgar
The South African captain-cum-opener has been one of the best openers in recent years and has the best chance to score big.
Vice-Captain– Rahkeem Cornwall
The off-spinner is a match-winner, and Cornwall can be my best choice to exploit South Africa’s lack of expertise against spin.
