This article is about the probable XIs for both teams and continues with the Dream11 predictions and the winning fantasy team for a second Test match of a two-match Test series between West Indies and South Africa scheduled to take place from 18th June 2021 to 22nd June 2021 at St Lucia.
South Africa started the tour brilliantly as visitors won the first Test convincingly by an innings and 63 runs. Quinton De Kock was a star performer in the first match of the series as the left-handed wicket-keeper batsman scored a brilliant hundred when his team needed the most. In the bowling department Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and Kagiso Rabada bowled well as they won the match by an innings at St Lucia.
On the other hand, West Indies were completely outplayed as they didn’t even win a single session of the Test match. They got all-out in both the innings for 97 and 162 respectively. The host will look to work on their batting line up and they will aim to bounce back in this second and last Test match of the series.
Venue: Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia.
Pitch and Weather: The pitch will remain the same as the first Test match of the series. Pacers will get an advantage with the new red ball, however, batsmen can score runs after getting set on this pitch. The weather will be cloudy on the first two days as there are chances of some showers on the second day of the Test match, otherwise, it will remain clear for the rest of the four days.
Date and Time: 18th June 2021, 10 AM Local, 7.30 PM IST.
Probable Playing XIs
South Africa will be satisfied with their playing XI after the thrilling victory in the first Test match of the series. Aiden Markram looked in touch in the first test as the right-handed opener scored 60 runs, Dussen also scored a brilliant 49 along with De Kock’s match-winning 141. The pace attack also looked in decent rhythm as all three pacers got wickets in the first Test match. However, the skipper Dean Elgar will aim to score runs in this Test match as he was dismissed early in the first Test.
The West Indies will have to give some answers to some questions in the batting department, still, the home side will stick with the same playing XI in the second Test match as well. Nkrumah Bonner, who got a concussion in the first test, should be okay in this match and he will play at number three for the West Indies. Shai Hope and Kraigg Brathwaite will look to score big here as they will aim to win this Test and draw the series.
Windies: Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Nkrumah Bonner, Roston Chase, Kyle Mayers, Jermaine Blackwood, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Rahkeem Cornwall, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales.
South Africa: Dean Elgar (c), Aiden Markram, Keegan Petersen, Rassie Van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne, Quinton De Kock (wk), Wiaan Mulder, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi.
South Africa has won the first Test convincingly as they will start as favorites in this second and last Test of the series as well. However, the home side will look to bounce back in this match and end the series on the result of 1-1.
Batsmen – Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, and Rassie Van der Dussen will be the must-pick options from the South Africa team. Markram and Dussen scored runs in the first Test match and Elger is arguably one of the best Test openers in the world right now. Jermaine Blackwood will be the best pick from the West Indies team in this match.
Bowlers– Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi all three African pacers will be the best picks from the bowling section. Kagiso Rabada took a five-wicket haul in the second inning and Lungi Ngidi picked five wickets in the first inning. Nortje also picked four wickets in the first inning against West Indies.
All-Rounders – Jason Holder and Roston Chase will be the best all-rounder option in this Test match. Jason Holder picked four wickets in the first inning. Roston Chase scored 62 runs in the second inning of the Test match.
Team for Fantasy – Dean Elgar(VC), Aiden Markram, Rassie Van der Dussen, Jermaine Blackwood, Shai Hope, Quinton De Kock, Jason Holder(c), Roston Chase, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje.
Captain – Jason Holder
Jason Holder is the best all-rounder in this Test match among both the teams. He has conditions in his favor as the pitch of St Lucia assists pacers. He failed with the bat in the first Test match, so he will look to bounce back and score runs in the second Test against SA.
Vice-Captain – Dean Elgar
Dean Elgar is arguably one of the best Test openers in the world. He has been in immense form in red-ball cricket. He was unfortunate that he got out earlier in the last Test, but he will look to score big in this Test match and win the match and first Test series as Captain of South Africa.
