So here’s the article on ‘Wicket Keeping ODI Records’ in detail on all aspects. Let’s see them one by one.

Adam Gilchrist of Australia holds the record for the ‘Most Catches by a WicketKeeper’ in ODI. He has played 287 matches and got hold of 417 catches which is the most by any wicketkeeper.

When it comes to Stumpings, one can clearly see the dominance of the Subcontinent wicketkeepers over the others.

This is due to two reasons mostly:

  • The Subcontinent Keepers has the advantage of keeping the wickets more for the spinners.
  • And they play mostly in spin-friendly conditions in Subcontinent.

The legendary keeper, Mark Boucher has got involved himself in only 22 stumpings out of his 424 Dismissals in ODI. This is mainly because, he has been keeping mostly for the fast bowlers with no spinners like Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan or Ravichandran Ashwin in his team.

MS Dhoni who is leading this chart has been known for his quick and cheeky stumpings. His stumping techniques are way ahead than his other counterparts. He has turned many matches with his particularly-pacy stumping skills. It seems evidently obvious that he will fix a benchmark for the future keepers with his stumpings record.

Kumar Sangakkara holds the top position for ‘Most Dismissals in ODI by a Wicketkeeper.’

Even though Sangakkara has the advantage of playing more matches in his career, he has not been a wicketkeeper in 50 out of 404 matches he played.

With just around 60 dismissals left, MSD might beat Kumar Sangakkara’s record in the shorter format if he ever comes back from his away time from the game.

Brendon McCullum is the only player on this list to have fewer dismissals than the matched he played. But still, he has kept wicket for only 183 matches in his career.

Adam Gilchrist has the highest Dismissals/Innings rate by a wicketkeeper of around 1.6 on this list.
