IPL 2026

RR Schedule IPL 2026: Full Match List, Dates, & Venue Details

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) enter the 2026 season in the midst of a massive identity shift. For the first time in over a decade, the franchise moves forward without Sanju Samson, who was traded to CSK in a blockbuster deal that brought veteran Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to the “Pink City.”

Now led by the homegrown talent Riyan Parag, the Royals are leaning into a “New Age” strategy centered on all-round depth and fearless youth.

The “Gamble” Captaincy: Riyan Parag

The biggest storyline in the IPL is Riyan Parag being handed the captaincy.

Homegrown Leader: After years of being a polarized figure, Parag’s stellar domestic form and performances have earned him the top job. He is tasked with filling the giant shoes of Samson, a move that experts like Laxmipathy Balaji have called a “bold gamble.”

Coaching Shift: The legendary Kumar Sangakkara remains the guiding hand, but the removal of Rahul Dravid from the dugout marks a shift toward a more aggressive, tactically fluid approach.

The “Jadeja-Curran” Trade Impact

While fans are still reeling from Samson’s exit, the tactical upside of the trade is undeniable:

The Control Factor: Ravindra Jadeja returns to where it all began (the 2008 champions). His ability to squeeze the middle overs and offer elite finishing is the “insurance policy” this young team needed.

Injury Setback: In a major blow just days before the opener, Sam Curran has been ruled out of the initial phase with a groin injury. The Royals are reportedly looking at Jimmy Neesham or Josh Tongue as potential replacements to maintain their balance.

The “Prodigy” Opening Pair

The Royals are set to unleash the youngest opening pair in IPL history.

Jaiswal’s New Role: With no Samson in the middle order, Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to take on even more responsibility. He is no longer just the “blaster”; he is the batting center-piece.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: The teenage sensation has been backed by Parag to “play without fear.” His inclusion signifies RR’s commitment to the “Pink Power” youth movement.

Venue Strategy: The Guwahati Stronghold

Interestingly, RR will play all three of their Phase 1 home games at their secondary home, the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, rather than Jaipur.

The “Dencoming” (Mar 30): The season opener is a high-drama clash against CSK. It will be the first time Sanju Samson faces his old team in yellow, and the first time Jadeja wears pink in over 15 years.

Spin Friendly: The Guwahati track often aids spin, which plays perfectly into the hands of RR’s new spin twin-tower of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi.
