Key Insights

Don Bradman is the fastest batter to score 15 centuries in Test cricket. He needed 41 innings to bring up his 15th Test hundred. The former Australian star is also the fastest ever to reach 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 Test runs.

Alec Stewart, in contrast, is the slowest to smash 15 Test centuries. He took 211 innings to reach the mark. Stewart is the only batter to take more than 200 Test innings to reach 15 centuries.

Jack Hobbs was the first batter to get past the landmark. The former England batter struck his 15th ton in his 90th Test innings in March 1929. This was also his last career hundred in the longest format.

Hobbs is also the oldest batter to score his 15th Test century. He was 46 years and 82 days old at that time. Here is a story about Hobbs’ later cricket period after he resumed cricket post-World War I.

On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar was 24 years and 317 days old when he racked up his 15th Test hundred, the youngest batter to do so.

Matthew Hayden has smashed the highest individual score by any batter for their 15th Test hundred. He aggregated a 380-run knock against Zimbabwe in the first innings of the 2003 Perth Test. Hayden’s 380 is the second-highest Test score by a batter.

Mahela Jayawardene and Hashim Amla are the other two batters to convert their 15th centuries into triple centuries.

Six batters have scored 15 or more centuries as captains in Tests. Among them, Steven Smith is the quickest to bring up 15 hundreds as skipper, as he took 53 innings.

Adam Gilchrist is the only wicketkeeper to aggregate 15-plus Test hundreds. And he smashed his 15th ton in his 96th innings.
