There have been nine partnerships of 200 or more runs in the ODI Asia Cup. Four of those stands have come for the third wicket, the most 200-plus partnerships for a wicket in the tournament.
The highest partnership in the ODI Asia Cup has also unfolded for the third wicket. The Indian pair of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli put up an unbeaten 233-run stand against Pakistan in the 2023 edition.
Kohli is the only batter to have featured in three 200-plus run partnerships in the ODI Asia Cup. Two of those stands came for the third wicket, while the other came for the second wicket.
The 224-run stand between Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed, the highest opening partnership, is also the biggest in a losing cause in the ODI Asia Cup.
There have been six partnerships of 100 or more runs for the sixth or lower wicket in the ODI Asia Cup. Five of those stands have come for the sixth wicket, while the other one came for the eighth wicket between Fawad Alam and Sohail Tanvir.
Bangladesh’s Mahmudullah is the only batter to be part of two sixth-wicket stands in the ODI tournament. He partnered with Alok Kapali for 112 runs against India in 2008. Ten years later, Mahmudullah shared a 128-run partnership with Imrul Kayes against Afghanistan.
The unbeaten 114-run stand between Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik for the fourth wicket was the first 100-plus run partnership in the T20 Asia Cup.
The sixth (58) and seventh (54*) wicket partnerships in the T20I installation came in the same match. Both partnerships involved Bhanuka Rajapaksa, helping Sri Lanka recover from 58 for 5 and then eventually finish at 170 for 6.
There’s only one more 50 or more run stand for the sixth or lower wicket in the T20 Asia Cup. It involved Amir Ali and Mehran Khan for an unbeaten 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket against Hong Kong in 2016.
