Key Insights

Since 2015, four Test teams have won 20 or more matches in away conditions. India were the second team to win as many Tests in 2022.

16 of those wins came under Virat Kohli’s leadership, the most for India in away Tests. No other captain has won more than 15 away Tests from 2015 to date.

India are one of the two teams with a win percentage above 40 in away Tests from 2015 onwards.

India are the only Asian team to win more than 10 Tests in SENA – South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia – countries since 2015. Only Pakistan and Sri Lanka have multiple SENA Test wins. If we combine SENA and the West Indies numbers, then India have more than 15 wins.

India are the only Asian team to win five or more Test series outside the Asian continent since 2015. Even outside the home, India have the most series wins among all teams.

Since 2015, no team other than India have won two or more Test series in three different away countries. They have had three series wins in the West Indies and two each in Australia and Sri Lanka.

India were the joint second-best visiting team in the first three World Test Championship (WTC) cycles combined between 2019 and 2025. The Indian team won 12 away Tests to share the second spot with Australia.
