Key Insights

Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Mohammad Azharuddin are the four Indian batters to score at least one Test century in all SENA countries. Azharuddin was the first among the lot to achieve the feat in 1997.

Tendulkar’s 17 hundreds are the most by an Indian batter in the four nations combined. He also had 40 fifty-plus scores, again the most for India in SENA Tests. He also tops the Asian list for the same record.

Eight of Tendulkar’s centuries resulted in losses, the most for an Indian batter in SENA. Kohli follows with six tons, while Azharuddin had four and Dravid three. This is one record Sachin doesn’t top in the overall list. There is one batter who has more centuries in Test losing causes than Sachin.

Tendulkar has also scored the most runs for India in the SENA countries. He aggregated 5387 runs in 114 innings.

The Master Blaster has also smashed the highest individual score in a SENA country among Indian batters. He brought up an unbeaten 241 against Australia in the 2004 Sydney Test, his only double hundred in SENA.

Dravid is the only Indian batter to score two double centuries in SENA countries combined. His first double ton came in England (217 at The Oval, 2002), while the second came in Australia (233 in Adelaide, 2003). Explore more on India’s double century records here.

Seven of Kohli’s Test centuries came in Australia, the most by an Indian batter in one of the SENA countries.

Azharuddin and Kohli scored centuries in three of the four SENA countries as India’s captains. Azharuddin missed a ton in South Africa, while Kohli missed one in New Zealand while at the helm.

Both remain the only Indian captains with two or more centuries in two of those countries. Azharuddin smashed two hundreds each in England and New Zealand, while Kohli scored four in Australia and two in England (2). Kohli’s four tons in Australia are the most by an Indian skipper in one of the SENA nations.
