Beyond the Numbers: Trends in India’s Test 200s

Virat Kohli currently holds the record for the most Test double centuries by an Indian, with 7. All of these were achieved while he was captaining the Indian team. He also holds the record for most double centuries as a captain in Test cricket worldwide.

Among the current non-retired Indian cricketers, only Cheteshwar Pujara has three Test double centuries. Mayank Agarwal and Yashasvi Jaiswal have each crossed the double-century mark twice in their careers.

Karun Nair is another current player with a Test double century. Notably, Karun converted his maiden double century into an even bigger one: a triple ton, making him the latest triple centurion for India.

Virat Kohli’s highest Test score of 235 and Karun Nair’s maiden 300 both occurred in the same series against England in 2016. These stand as the two highest individual scores for India against England in Tests.

The young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal’s two Test double centuries are also the latest additions to India’s elite list of double centurions.
