IPL Stats: Lowest Totals Successfully Defended by Teams

IPL, being the grandest T20 league, is known for quick-fire batting and high-scoring matches. Even the scores above 200 have been chased with ease on multiple occasions in the IPL.

With that being said, it’s quite rare when a team scores a below-par total and still manages to sneak a win. Revisiting such low-scoring encounters, here are the 10 lowest scores successfully defended in the IPL.

Key Insights

Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) 111 all out is the lowest total successfully defended in IPL’s history. They restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 95 all out to win the game by 16 runs.

PBKS have also defended four totals of 129 or fewer runs in the IPL – the most by a team in the league. Two of those instances have come against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

SRH are the other team to defend below 129 totals twice against the same team. They first defended 126 for 6 against Pune Warriors before pulling off another victory after putting up 119 for 8 against the same opposition in 2013.

Pune Warriors (now defunct) failed to chase down targets of 130 or fewer runs on three occasions – the most among all IPL teams.
