IPL 2024: Probable Playing XI for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

LSG, led by their wicketkeeper-captain KL Rahul, has been one of the most consistent sides in the last 2 editions of the IPL, and they are one of the few teams that had little to do in the auctions.

The team was on the lookout for an Indian pacer, which they got in the form of Shivam Mavi, which should make this side a settled one. The Super Giants also strengthened their spin bowling department with the purchase of left-arm spinner Siddharth.

Lucknow Super Giants Full Squad for IPL 2024

LSG squad: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Devdutt Padikkal, Ravi Bishnoi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Krunal Pandya, Yudhvir Singh, Prerak Mankad, Yash Thakur, Amit Mishra, Mark Wood, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, K. Gowtham, Shivam Mavi, Arshin Kulkarni, M. Siddharth, Ashton Turner, David Willey, Mohd. Arshad Khan

Having finished 4th in the last season, LSG retained most of their players, and thus the playing XI is expected to be largely the same as what they played last season. Let’s take a glance at Lucknow’s possible playing XI for IPL 2024.

LSG Probable Playing XI for IPL 2024

Openers: Quinton de Kock, Devdutt Padikkal

Quinton de Kock will retain his opening slot for the coming edition, and he will likely have a new partner in the form of Devdutt Padikkal, who was traded from the Rajasthan Royals. LSG will bank on the attractive left-handers to give them blazing starts with the bat in IPL 2024.

Middle-order: KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda

KL Rahul has expressed his desire to bat in the middle order, and in the upcoming edition, he might move down the order from his usual opening slot. Nicholas Pooran had a great IPL 2023, and LSG will have big hopes for him. Experienced campaigner Deepak Hooda is most likely to retain his spot in the playing XI despite a forgettable outing last year.

All-rounders: Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis

LSG has good all-rounders in the form of the left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya and the dangerous lower-order batter Marcus Stoinis. Both of them can produce match-winning performances.

Bowlers: Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Shivam Mavi

Following the departure of Avesh Khan, LSG spent much of their money on the Indian pacer Shivam Mavi, and he will in all likelihood make a debut for them, joining the likes of Mark Wood and Mohsin Khan in the pace department. Ravi Bishnoi, who topped the T20I ranking charts for the bowlers recently, will once again take reigns as the specialist spinner.

Twelfth Man/Impact Player: Ayush Badoni or M Siddharth

On spin-friendly Lucknow tracks, LSG think-tank can go with their newly recruited left-arm spinner Manimaran Siddharth, or else they also have the option to include an extra batter in Ayush Badoni.
