Jayawardene picked up 68 of his catches in away games, the most by any fielder.
Allan Border picked up 92 of his 127 catches in Australia, the most by a fielder in his home country in ODIs.
New Zealand’s Ross Taylor has the best catches per innings ratio in ODIs (minimum 70 catches taken). He had a catches per innings ratio of 0.612 to end up with 142 catches in 232 innings.
Ricky Ponting took 28 of his 160 catches in the ODI World Cup. This is the most catches by a fielder in the 50-over tournament.
India’s Mohammad Azharuddin has picked up the most catches against an ODI team. He grabbed 44 catches in 64 innings against Pakistan.
England’s Paul Collingwood created a record in 2007, taking 28 catches in 33 innings, the most by a fielder in a calendar year in ODIs.
South Africa’s Jonty Rhodes and England’s Harry Brook have taken the joint-most catches in an ODI innings. Both held on to five catches each against the West Indies in 1993 and 2025, respectively.
Younis Khan (Pakistan), Glenn Maxwell (Australia), Calum MacLeod (Scotland) and Andy Balbirnie (Ireland) are the only four fielders who’ve taken four catches each in two ODI innings.
Jayawardene took 28 of his catches off Muttiah Muralitharan’s bowling, making it the best bowler-fielder combination in ODIs.
Muralitharan has the most ‘caught and bowled’ dismissals in ODIs, having claimed 35 return catches off his own bowling.
Australia’s Adam Gilchrist has taken the most catches among wicketkeepers in ODIs, having claimed 417 catches in 281 innings.
