Stats: Most Batters Scoring Centuries in A Test Match

Only twice in the history of cricket, 8 centuries were scored in a Test match. One should feel sorry for the bowlers as the batting-friendly conditions that stayed on for the full five days made things easy for the batters from both sides to take full advantage.

Seven times Test cricket has seen seven triple-digit knocks appearing in a solitary Test scorecard. The recent addition to this list is the Rawalpindi Test match between England and Pakistan in December 2022.

This article will list all the Tests where seven or more centuries were scored in a Test match.

Key Stats

It is in 1938 Test cricket saw its first incident of seven 100s being scored within a Test match. It took 15 years for the cricket world to see it repeated.

And it took 65 years for the record to be broken when the batters from the touring South African and host West Indian nations took complete advantage of St. John’s conditions. Four batters from each side scored century-plus in their respective first innings of the Test match, which saw only very little of the 2nd innings. One of the four two-times triple centurions in Tests, Chris Gayle batted one of his life-changing knocks of 317 in that game, his first Test 300.

Only three times, the above-mentioned Tests have seen results as the rest of these games ended in a draw.

England, West Indies, & South Africa are part of three matches in the above list.
