Graham Gooch holds the record for the most runs in a three-match Test series, having scored 752 runs in six innings against India in the 1990 home series. Gooch’s 752 runs are also the most by a captain in a series of three Tests.

Brian Lara’s tally of 688 runs on the 2001 Sri Lanka tour is the highest by a batter in an away Test series of three matches. Lara also has a 798-run series in his career, a performance that places him high on the all-time list of most runs in a bilateral Test series.

Consistent Run-Scoring

Ricky Ponting (vs WI, 2003 & SA, 2005/06), David Warner (vs SA, 2014 & NZ, 2015), and Younis Khan (vs IND, 2005 & 2006) have aggregated 500 or more runs in two series of three Tests each. Younis achieved it against the same opposition twice, while Warner did so as an opener.

Mohammad Yousuf’s 665-run tally against West Indies in 2006 included four centuries, the most by a batter in a three-match Test series. These are the second-most hundreds by a batter in any Test series.

Double Century & Batting Average Records

Kumar Sangakkara has the highest batting average in a three-Test series, scoring 428 runs at 428.00 in three innings against Bangladesh in 2007.
