Some might say ODI cricket is in a decline stage, but the ODI World Cup is still considered the biggest price in the sport. So, it is fair to say there is a firm decline in the interest in cricket folklore in bilateral ODI matches, but not the format.
Whether the tri-formats of cricket can co-exist for long is a topic for another time. Now it’s time to build up to the biggie, the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled in India for October 2023.
Before that, it is also important to look at the role of a batter in the ODI format. Unlike Test matches, where the bowlers are destined to pick up 20 wickets for a team to win, the ODIs are relatively more inclined towards the batter.
With 50 overs in contention, batters in ODI are expected to bring on their A-game to keep the team in the driver’s seat.

Shubman Gill is also the first cricketer to cross 500-mark in ODI and 1000 runs in all formats combined list this year.
With the ODI World Cup Qualifiers undergoing, one can see the dominance of Associate nation members in the list.
Asif Khan of UAE and Sean Williams of Zimbabwe joined Gill in making it to three 100s in the format within the year – leading the chart after completing the first half of 2023.
