Rahmat Shah, who has featured in all 11 of Afghanistan’s Test matches, has scored the most tons in the format with three. Two of his centuries came against Zimbabwe, and the other against Bangladesh.

Shah’s 102 against Bangladesh in a 2019 Test match held at Chattogram was the first-ever century scored by an Afghan batter in Tests.

None of the Afghan batters have crossed the 1000-run mark in Tests, with Shah being the leading run-scorer with 970 runs. Only three batters have crossed the 500-run mark.

For batters who have played five or more Tests, Hashmatullah Shahidi’s average of 54.07 is the highest.

Rahmat Shah has registered the most fifty-plus scores (8) for Afghanistan, followed by Ibrahim Zadran, with five such scores.


Double Centurions and Highest Scores

Hashmatullah Shahidi, the current Afghanistan skipper, holds the record for the highest-ever Test score by a batter from the country. He made 246 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 2024. He is the only player from his country to register a double century twice.

The only other Afghanistan batter to register a double century in Tests is Rahmat Shah, who made 234 in the same game.
