Clive Lloyd (West Indies) and Smith have won the most Tests in a calendar year, with 11 victories each in 1984 and 2008.
Waugh (2002), England’s Michael Vaughan (2004), and Ponting (2006) are the other skippers with 10 Test wins each in a year.
Border and Viv Richards (West Indies) each won 13 matches against England, the joint-most by a captain against a Test team.
