Clive Lloyd (West Indies) and Smith have won the most Tests in a calendar year, with 11 victories each in 1984 and 2008.

Ricky Ponting has won the most consecutive Tests as a captain, recording a streak of 16 victories while leading Australia between December 26, 2005, and January 6, 2008.

Ponting has also won the joint-most consecutive Test series as a skipper, leading Australia to nine back-to-back series victories from October 2005 to June 2008.

Virat Kohli is the other captain to seal nine successive series victories. India maintained the streak between August 2015 and December 2017.

Over 40 captains have lost each of the Tests they’ve led their respective teams in, with Bangladesh’s Khaled Mashud topping the list with 12 defeats in 12 Tests.
