IPL 2024: Probable Playing XI for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stepped into the auction with a lot of questions that needed to be answered regarding their bowling department, having released most of their bowlers from last year.

They did find bowlers who could fill in the roles (Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, and Tom Curran) at the auction, but it is hard to see whether the bowling unit is complete even after the auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Full Squad for IPL 2024

RCB squad: Faf du Plessis (c), Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik, Suyash Prabhudessai, Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Rajan Kumar, Cameron Green, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, Saurav Chauhan

It will be interesting to see what RCB’s playing XI, especially their bowling attack, looks like. We will glance at the possible XI that RCB will field in their opening contest.

RCB Probable Playing XI for IPL 2024

Openers: Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli

One thing that is fixed in RCB’s batting line-up is the opening pair, and by the looks of it, Virat and Faf will be the top-order batters once again for the season. Both players had a 600-plus batting season last time around, and RCB will hope for a similar kind of return from the veteran duo.

Middle Order: Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, Mahipal Lomror

Rajat Patidar missed the last season due to an injury after having been a revelation of sorts in the year prior for RCB. In that way, he fits directly as the team’s No. 3, and Mahipal Lomror might retain his place in the middle order.

But the batting position remains a question mark, with the possibility of all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green batting up the order, while Dinesh Karthik is expected to continue his keeping duties.

All-rounders: Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green

Cameron Green had a tremendous debut season with the Mumbai Indians last season, and RCB traded him for IPL 2024, making their batting unit relatively more stronger.

He does give the pace bowling option and is likely to share RCB’s all-rounder duties with the mercurial Glenn Maxwell, who has lit the cricketing field multiple times in 2023. Together, they solidify the team’s middle order in the coming season and would likely bat much higher.

Bowlers: Mayank Dagar/Karn Sharma, Mohammad Siraj, Alzarri Joseph/Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal

RCB bowling is once again a cause of worry, with no experience concerning Indian pacers apart from Mohammad Siraj. They went for Yash Dayal, who offers variety as a left-arm pacer and could fit into the lineup.

The Faf-led side has the option of filling the lone possible overseas fast-bowling slot with either Lockie Ferguson or Alzarri Joseph, and the only specialist spinner in their ranks is Karn Sharma.

Twelfth Man/Impact Player: Anuj Rawat/Vijaykumar Vyshak

Depending on the team combination and match situation, RCB can opt for either Anuj Rawat, a keeper-batter, or medium pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak as an impact player.
